Background information

CSPS is committed to conducting research, training and advocacy in areas of social development that promote welfare and empowerment of vulnerable and excluded groups. The following fields of social action receive special attention in our work:

  • Social Mobilisation for Development
  • Age-related well-being studies (Ageing, Children, Youth, Family Disability)
  • Social Protection (Social Security Studies, Vulnerability and Exclusion, Social grants/transfers)
  • Human Capital Studies (Education, Health, Skills development)
  • Institutions for Social Development (governance, corporate social responsibility)
  • Livelihood Studies (poverty, social labour mapping, informal economy, child labour, employment)
  • Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) Sensitisation Programme, MMYE (2008)
The Centre organises an annual seminar series and publishes in the areas listed above as part of its advocacy work.
