Background information
FIDA-Ghana is a non governmental organisation made up of women lawyers who promote the welfare and status of women and children through the law. It was established in Ghana in 1974. FIDA has become a household name in Ghana as a result of its legal aid scheme which was started in 1985. It is an organisation committed to addressing discriminatory practices in the society, and promoting and protecting the rights of women and children in Ghana.
