Background information
In 2002, 7 "forest" NGOs launched coordinated policy advocacy about tenure, resource management and enterprise rights distortions that undermine rural development and biodiversity. In 2004, they adopted a constitution and name. Since then FWG has grown to over 30 members and is influential in national and international forest governance discourse.
