Background information

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Ghana's first public policy Institute was founded in 1989 with the view to broadening the debate on public policy, engendering private sector-led economic growth, promoting pro poor policy formulation and strengthening the pillars of democracy.

The IEA believes that the creation of an environment in which economic, social, political and legal institutions are permitted to function openly and freely is the key to the achievement of sustainable development, poverty reduction, good governance and multiparty democracy. To this end The IEA conducts policy relevant research in the areas of governance, poverty and economic policy complemented by advocacy campaigns to propose and reform existing Government policies.
